Single-Piece-Flow is the tool that maximizes the output. Every process must be single piece flow to deliver the maximum output. Visualizing single piece flow is difficult due to the inability to see the total amount of wastes. All the disconnected pieces of time lost adds up more than we initially can visualize, and we do not understand how much a smooth process flow will increase production speed.
All of the other tools, visual production, 5S, point of use inventory, kanban replenishment, ergonomics, 6-sigma, etc. must be implemented with single piece flow.
